Our Story

For my first post, I thought I'd give a little synopsis of "us."  Spencer and I met in the fall of 2010.  I was a freshman, and he was fresh off his two year LDS mission to Taiwan.  We lived in the same apartment complex, where he and his roommates had become friends with my roommates.  Our friend groups hung out a ton during fall semester, and we all became great friends.  We didn't hang out much during spring semester with the exception of spring break, where Spencer and his friends met up with my roommate and me for a day at Disneyland and a day at Laguna Beach.  At this point we both had some mutual feelings, but we never pursued it.  Spencer had been accepted to BYU for the fall, and I did not want a boyfriend.  That summer, Spencer moved to Missouri for summer sales and I stayed in Logan to work and do summer school.  At this point, fate stepped in...

 Less than a month before school started, Spencer found out BYU wouldn't accept a lot of his USU credits, tacking on an entire semester of repeat courses.  With just a few weeks to go, Spencer re-enrolled at USU, registered for classes, and bought a contract with two of his roommates from the previous year.  I caught wind that Spencer was back at USU, but didn't think much of it.  In September, my roommates and I went to a dance party at their house and I remember thinking, "I bet he finds a girl to marry up here."  But, I never thought it would be me.  We didn't see much of Spencer or his friends until October, when they invited us over for a game night.  I was in a flirty mood, and Spencer reciprocated.  The next day he met up with me at the football game, afterwards we watched a scary movie together with my roommates.  This inspired a full month of scary movies with both our sets of roommates.  The more movies we watched, the closer we'd sit, until one night, right before Halloween, he finally put his arm around me.  The next night, we watched a movie that absolutely terrified me, which worked to his advantage, I cuddled right up to him, and the ice was broken, permanently.

From that point on, we hung out nearly everyday.  We held hands, cuddled, hung out as groups of friends, and even did a few activities on our own.  On November 14, we went out for ice cream then went on a drive up the canyon, where he kissed me for the first time.  Things continued to progress, and we went on more "just us" dates until Christmas break, when I spent a week in California and he spent the following week in Yellowstone.  We stayed in touch via text, and Spencer came up to Logan for a couple days around New Years.

 When school started in January, we picked up right where we left off, and continued seeing each other pretty much everyday.  We quickly decided that neither of us was interested in dating others, and became exclusive.  We continued dating until June 8, (the day AFTER my birthday) when he (finally) took me ring shopping.  Spencer and I had a short, 8-week engagement, and got sealed for eternity in the Logan temple on August 2, 2012 (almost 22 months to the day since we'd met).  I couldn't be happier to be married to my best friend, and I'm excited for the many adventures that lie ahead!
